Silent Witness Exhibit

Remembering, Honoring, and Creating

" I feel [the exhibit] added a lot to our day to recognize domestic abuse..."   Ashley, CSB/SJU Day of Awareness for Domestic and Child Abuse

The Silent Witness Exhibit gives communities the opportunity to remember and honor the lives of women in central Minnesota who were murdered through domestic violence. This project also brings the opportunity to create awareness about domestic violence -what domestic violence is and how to get help.

Since 1979, Anna Marie’s Alliance has offered services for battered women and their children in central Minnesota. Many women do not know that help is available... that it is free...and that it is accessible 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

The Silent Witness Exhibit features wooden, life-size female figures, painted red, with a plague on each chest. The plaque tells the story of that woman who was murdered...who she was...how she died, where and when.

The exhibit inspires people to be part of the solution to domestic violence. It helps create awareness. The women in the Silent Witness exhibit are from central Minnesota.

There are 14 figures. Women remembered in the Silent Witness exhibit are from the nine counties in Central Minnesota served by the Central Minnesota Task Force on Battered Women. Brochures accompany the exhibit.

To help with maintainence, a fee of $100 is charged for use of the exhibit.
