Community Advocacy

Anna Marie’s Alliance Community Advocacy Programs

Anna Marie’s Alliance Community Advocates work either with specific populations or specific programs. All have one goal in mind: to end domestic violence. When a client comes to us, our advocates are there from the time of an incident, through the court process, and emergency shelter period, if needed, until women and families are able to live independently in their own safe new homes. We believe in holding hope for women until they can hold it for themselves.

If you need help, please call (320) 253-6900 to speak to an advocate.

On-Scene Advocacy

The On-Scene Advocates are called to the scene of a domestic violence incident by law enforcement when police are called out for a domestic incident. On-Scene Advocates provide immediate assistance to victims, and to law enforcement.

Advocates can help to ensure accurate reporting of the incident, reduce the fear dynamic between victims and police, and help women make this incident the last incident. On-scene advocates are able to bring women into our shelter, if necessary, and assist victims in reaching other necessary services as soon as possible.

Criminal Justice Intervention Advocacy

Criminal Justice Intervention advocates provide advocacy to victims who have an active case in the justice system and monitor the system’s response to domestic abuse at all stages of the process. Advocates engage law enforcement agencies, either by phone or on the scene of a domestic assault, in Stearns, Benton counties through implementation of the Lethality Assessment Protocol—a process that identifies victims of domestic violence who are the greatest risk of harm and encourages them to go to provider services.
